Ford Model A - 1930
Car History:
The success that its Tin Lizzy predecessor had generated increased expectations from the successor. Still, the first Ford was simple, too clever, too cheap and too common to be beaten. This was well known by Ford: the A model which replaced in 1928 the T model and was also produced in Germany, has never reached to the popularity of its predecessor.
Still the model was a success, because over 5 million cars were sold in the whole world. Ford din not relied again on revolutionary technique, but looked for simple solutions.Modifying the production line generated big problems: the whole plant was taken out of service for almost half a year, till the adjustments for the new production were completed. These days, Ford A with his 3,3 l engine and 40 HP is considered an American classic typical of its times.
