Chevrolet Master de Luxe - 1938

Car History:
Chevrolet Master Eagle or Chevrolet Master was a medium class car built between 1933 and 1942 by Chevrolet in United States. It was the successor of Confederate model. Starting with 1937 the Master had replaced the smaller and simpler model, Standard. By that time the simpler models were called Chevrolet Master 85 while the better endowed models were called Chevrolet Master Deluxe. In 1937 the Standard – first model – was replaced by Master GB serial. Cars were having new bodies, well-rounded with small fenders in front of A poles and safety glass for all windows. The van was taken also from the Standard model, offered next to the Coupes and Limousines. The wheel base was shorted to 2.851 mm. The engine had a capacity of 3.548 cmc and developed 85 hp at 3200 rpm.
The top model – Master Deluxe GA serial had the same body car (except for the Cabrio) and the same engine but with better endowments. In 1938 started the use of a new radiator grille, more round, with chrome horizontal bars, vertically split in the middle. As for the rest, both models – named now HB serial and HA serial – remained the same, in technical and design.
In 1939 the Master model was renamed Master 85 serial JB. The longer hood and the redesigned radiator grill made it seem like the car was new. Lights, former mounted on the hood, were moved on the aisles. The van wasn’t withdrawn from production, instead it was produced a Combi model with 5 doors and 8 seats. The Master Deluxe JA serial was also modified. Beside the 8 seats Combi model was produced a new 5 seats model. In a three years period were produced 1.908.163 pieces of serials Master, Master 85 and Master Deluxe.
