Car History:

The athlete of the boulevard, whose body was derived from the 300 SL, appeared in 1954 on the initiative of american importer Max Hoffman. In May 1955, the serial production of the Cabriolet started, when the new OHC engine made its debut. At the 190 SL model, the engine developed a power of 105 HP, but the Ponton Limousines were fitted with limited models of the engine. The 190 SL model costed 16.500 German Marks (17.500 was the price for those cars with hard top) and it was not available only for american customers, but also for high german society, as a result of the „economic miracle” of Germany.

The happening of one model from the total of 25.881 Mercedes 190 SL models was enough to shake its image: that car belonged to Rosemarie Nitribitt, the Nobel Price Ceremony presenter from Frankfurt . When she was murdered in 1957, the picture of the famous blond and her Mercedes traveled around the world.

This 190 SL Mercedes was restored by the company Auto Stodola from Poland, according with the original characteristics. The automobile was brought in an impeccable condition. Thanks to the materials used and the precise repairs, we can say it is „better than new”. Yet, even a restored vehicle from all points of view remains unchanged technically speaking and it behaves as 50 years ago.
