Porsche 356 Coupé – 1952

Car History:
Before its serial production, for Porsche 356 officially presented in March 1949 in Gmuend-Austria, 23 aluminum Coupé models were manufactured and 23 chassis for Cabriolet body. Starting with April 1950, a Coupé model had been produced in Zuffenhausen plant, Stuttgart. Little later, the production of Cabrio models started. These models were sold for 10.200 and 12.200 German Marks. One year later, at the same price, they introduced the 1300 cmc engine.
In the middle of 1952, the serial production for curved windshields started. From October 1952 cars had been built with 8 cm longer and stronger brakes. The word “Super” added to the car’s name meant, since 1953, an increased engine power. The first Speedster generation came up in September 1954 and was sold for 13.300 German Marks.
Before Professor Ferdinand Porsche came out of prison, at the middle of 1947, his son Ferry already had started work for building the sport auto 356. The 356 project had the radiator grill from bars and aluminum car body. Its aerodynamic shape remembered of the race car Berlin-Rome. First mechanical engine units were taken from KdF – alias Volkswagen. The prototype finished at 8th of June 1948 had a four horizontal cylinders engine of 1.131 cmc. Despite the limited power of 40 HP at 4000 rpm, this car could reach a maximum speed of 130 km/h. The sensational was that this car was one of medium class.
The serial Porsche 356 was fitted with four horizontal cylinders and a self-supporting car body. After two series, five bodies and seven motorizations, in 1959 Porsche presented the 356 B model. This B model was distinct from others through higher lights and bar, modified horizontal line and small details. The top model of this serial was 356 B Super 90. This model reached with his 90 HP the same speed as 356 A Carrera 1500 GS. The 356 SC serial which closed the production was fitted with 95 HP engines and promised its buyers a 185 km/h maximum speed.
This particular Porsche from 1952 is one of the models produced before serial production and is one of the curved windshield beloved models. Curved windshield is actually the windshield manufactured from mould glass, curved in the middle and caught with a beam. The car is fitted with original digit keys radio from Telefunken.
Restoration works were performed by the well-known specialist “Thanner” from Switzerland. Restoration costs were much above 200.000 Swiss francs, around 150.000 Euro. Definitely this car is not a cheap one, but whoever saw this car stopped thinking about the price. Restoration works were documented with many photos and the car history is complete. It is a singular model with an exceptional quality. This is a car for connoisseurs, which is listed and qualified in the Mille Miglia cars.
